An exciting opportunity awaits you as the Financial Controller/CFO of WASTE. You will be responsible for all aspects of financial accounting, systems and controls of WASTE and its programmes.

What we offer you:

  • Fair financial compensation in the range of €4,884.92 to €6,459.50, with the eventual salary based on your relevant experience
  • The following labour conditions: 25 holiday days, 8.33% holiday allowance, 13th month, 10.15% pension contribution paid by employer
  • A one-year contract with the intention to extend.

Your responsibilities

As our Financial Controller/CFO you are responsible for all aspects of financial accounting, systems and controls of WASTE and its programmes. You will be monitoring the correct application of standards, laws and regulations for quality management of the administrative organisation and internal control. You are responsible for the production of financial reports, analyses and forecasts, and providing advice and support to the Executive Director and Programme Managers in the area of financial planning, monitoring and reporting.

The Financial Controller/CFO is a member of our management team. You will directly report to the Executive Director and work closely with the programme managers and administration team of WASTE, the external financial administrator, and the Audit Committee of the Supervisory Board.

Besides the overall responsibilities for WASTE, you will also be monitoring the programmes. More specifically, you will act as Controller for the three major programmes, FINISH Mondial, FINILOOP and Take-a-Stake; of which FINISH Mondial is the largest (this is a multimillion-dollar programme, active in multiple countries). Your time division between WASTE and Programme Control will be around 50/50.

Your tasks:

  • Managing financial business operations including the (long-term) budgets and reports
  • Organising financial control and internal control (incl. Treasury)
  • Programme support: organising programme control and financial support for managers and staff
  • System development: (re) organising the financial administration (Multivers) and the document management system (Sharepoint) and signing (Docusign)
  • Delivering reports, forecasts, financial statements and external reporting
  • Risk management
  • Manager of the administration team and supporting the programme teams
  • As part of the MT of WASTE, contribution to the long-term vision and strategy of the organisation
  • Modernisation and standardisation of the backoffice.

  • You find Business Administration, Business Economics or Accountancy exciting
  • You thrive working in a small, dynamic, growing organisation
  • You have experience in financial management, planning and control
  • You have affinity and experience with developing an annual financial report, with subsidies and external financing from multiple donors
  • You have experience with change processes
  • You are a people person, work well with different cultures and can support colleagues with a non-financial or operational skill set to achieve results in the short and long-term
  • You have demonstrable experience with achieving efficiency in project management
  • You are careful, analytical, result-oriented, a team player, solution-oriented, and decisive with an eye for organisational development
  • You're fluent in English and Dutch
  • You reside in the Netherlands and are in possession of a valid Dutch working permit.
